That event was followed by our very successful major fundraiser at the Oct. 12 Sunset Cruise on the Patriot, the first time under the ownership of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. A great crowd…with great food by Garden & Garnish…great music by AMPERSAND…a fun raffle….an awesome sunset by nature and skillful navigating by Capt. Matt…. It was a lovely evening, and raised more than $6,000!

The community dinner raised more than $20,000 bringing the total Empty Bowls raised in one year just shy of $30,000. These funds will be distributed to food banks in Talbot County where 1 in 10 residents are food insecure. Not only was the food excellent…. not only was the service attentive and friendly…not only was Brian helpful and knowledgeable to work with… but everything was so seamless. I simply enjoyed the guests and the event, because everything was done perfectly. Lots of helpful planning made this an event that I could simply enjoy. And enjoy it I did! I liked the beef short ribs the best, but then there was the salmon…and the latkes….and that doesn’t even get us to dessert….

Brian and his team catered our rehearsal dinner and our wedding and were great to work with!! Brian and his team have over 20 years experience in the field and it shows. He’s a very talented chef and I appreciated that the food we served wasn’t the typical “fish, beef, or chicken.” Our wedding was outside in August, so it was hot! Brian ended up doing beef tenderloin served with a cold crab salad that was amazing and our guests haven’t stopped talking about. Him and his wife grow many of their own fruits and vegetables used in their catering events and source a lot of other products from the local area which we really appreciated. On top of all this, they were easy to communicate with and very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend!

The food was fantastic – we all loved it. I had chicken fingers to spare. I froze left overs – always a good things. The crab we did have was a hit and had a few left over so I’m glad we cut that back. One of the biggest hits…..FRUIT. They couldn’t get enough. They wanted to snack on fruit vs. chips and such. Many of those kids are going on to play to a sport in college and are very focused on nutrition. (so I ate the chips! haha)

Good morning Brian…I can’t tell you how happy we are with how well things went on Saturday!! Hannah and Ernie were awesome to work with and stayed very calm, continuing to do their jobs with smiles on their faces when our home suddenly went from quiet to chaotic (about 130 arrived here for pics) and the aroma of crab crakes drew everyone to the kitchen! Hannah did such a wonderful job with the table setting…the parents were blown away by the beautiful setting on the back porch and many asked who our caterer is so be expecting more business! The food was a huge hit with the kids and we had left overs yesterday…still delicious! LOVE those egg rolls! Good to your word, everything was cleaned up and we were locked up and out by 7:10 in plenty of time for Grand March.

Brian Schmidt and Garden and Garnish did an outstanding job for our early October, Eastern Shore wedding. I heard nothing but praises about the food from the appetizers to the entrees. G&G was a full-service, professional, outstanding catering company. We chose crab cakes, stuffed mushrooms, grilled cheese with tomato dipping sauce, and bruschetta as our appetizers. They were plentiful and delicious and continued to be passed for the entirety of cocktail hour. We chose to do a buffet style dinner and everything was pipping hot and wonderful. The servers were quick and because Brian set up 3 different stations, no one waited in line for their dinner. We had basil balsamic chicken, beef tenderloin, asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes, buttermilk biscuits, salad, and wedding cake. Everything was perfect. Brian even decorated the wedding cake beautifully with seasonal berries. We had brought the rest of the desserts ourselves and G&G plated and displayed them beautifully along with coffee and tea after dinner. My highest praises! The food was so delicious with every dish delighting the taste buds in it’s own unique way. The BBQ on corn bread was a huge hit, everyone raved about the grilled vegetables, and my personal favorite was the red potato salad. The Smith Island cakes were the perfect finish to the meal.

Steve and I want you to know that Friday night was absolutely perfect! The food was amazing, and Ernie was wonderful! The oysters were so delicious, and all but 2 were devoured. If we extended cocktail hour another hour, we probably could have gone through another round! Really. The spicy mushrooms were a perfect counterpoint to the oysters and we all enjoyed. The salad was superb; the dressing was especially good with the peppery arugula, tart goat cheese, and sweet figs. There were 2 biscuits left that we saved and shared with breakfast the next day. What can I say about the lamb and the lobsters? They were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. I never had a lobster tail so TENDER and JUICY and the combination with the lamb was beyond wonderful. Dessert was divine! Quite unnecessary after that meal, but we all agreed it was the best chocolate dessert we ever had. All in all, a perfect meal in every way, but I would expect nothing less from you.
Now Ernie! His timing was perfect; he was unobtrusive but there when we needed him. He seemed to anticipate our wants and needs. Obviously a good chef and truly a real nice guy! He was so quiet in the kitchen you wouldn’t know he was there. And the icing on the cake—the kitchen was spotless when he left. What a joy!
All in all, Brian, a truly memorable evening of decadent food and indulgent service. We’re all still talking about it today. Thank you so very much.Sincerely,

Everyone raved about the delicious dishes you prepared, the freshness of the vegetables, the taste and tenderness of the chicken, and the wonderful crab cakes (and I make darn good crab cakes myself!), not to mention the great hard shell crabs. Not only was the food delicious, but many people commented on how pleasant, sweet, and easy going you were, as well as your staff Sally and Michelle. And you cleaned up so well that I didn’t have to do a thing in my kitchen for it to be ready for me to cook breakfast the next morning for our many house guests! Thanks for that too!
